Most Danish citizens and residents receive benefits from the public sector at least once a year. Such benefits include tax overpayments, child money, pensions, student loans, unemployment benefits, housing compensation, or social security money.
All Danish residents and Danish registered companies must have NemKonto. NemKonto is your bank account that all the Danish authorities can see it as your personal account, and can transfer money. NemKonto is established by the Danish Agency for Digitalisation.
In order to assign your own, say, an account held in Lithuania to be your NemKonto, you must provide your Lithuanian account number (IBAN), Swift bank code and other personal information. The Agency sends a physical message to the address you specified, so the assignment process can take up to 16 weeks. The activation code sent in the email must be activated within the next period specified in the letter, otherwise it will expire and will require a new application.
